Memorial to the Unborn

Our council and ladies auxiliary made a “Memorial to the Unborn Child” meditation garden in the fall of 2008 on the grounds of Holy Cross church.  It was observed that little maintenance was done by the church landscapers.  Therefore the council and the ladies auxiliary got together to refurbish the area.  Several hours were spent on weeding and pulling out small trees growing in the flower shrubs and through the mulch.  The flagstone walkway had to be removed and replaced more securely for stepping onto.  Small plants which were planted randomly were removed or relocated to a more appealing area of the garden.  The large crabapple tree in the center of the garden had to be pruned and given a more balanced shape.  Eight shrubs also had to be trimmed back to give a uniform, balanced and appealing look. Then 1 ½ yards of new mulch was trucked in and evenly spread throughout.
